The Custom Design Process — Step by Step

Step 1: Submit Your Inquiry

Start by reaching out to us through our website contact form at gomainebounddesigns.com/custom or via Etsy message. Tell us:

• What product you want customized.
• What you are envisioning (a location, a name, a theme, a color palette).
• Your desired quantity.

The more detail you give us upfront, the faster we can get you a design draft.

Step 2: Design Consultation & Pricing

Once we receive your inquiry, we will respond within 1–2 business days with:

• Confirmation that your concept is feasible.
• A custom pricing quote, including any applicable design fees.
• An estimated production and shipping timeline.
  
  

Custom design fees vary depending on complexity and may apply to highly customized Retro Canvas Prints or intricate text layouts. Simple text personalization (name, date, location) on standard products may be added for a small minimal charge.

Step 3: Design Draft & Approval

After payment is confirmed, our design team will create a digital proof of your custom item and send it to you for approval. This typically takes 2–4 business days.

• You will receive 2 rounds of revisions at no charge.
• Additional revision rounds may incur a small fee.
• Production does not begin until you provide written approval (“Looks great — go ahead!” via email or message is sufficient).

Step 4: Production & Shipping

Once you approve your design, your custom item enters production. Custom orders follow the same production timeline as our standard products (2–5 business days), plus shipping time of 3–7 business days. Total estimated delivery for custom orders is 7–14 business days from the date of design approval.

Image Requirements for Retro Canvas Prints

Our Retro Canvas Prints are one of our most popular custom offerings — and for good reason. These are not simple photo prints. Our designers custom-craft a retro art illustration inspired by your location, memory, or concept. To produce the best result possible, we ask that you provide:

If Submitting a Reference Photo

• Minimum resolution: 1500 x 1500 pixels (higher is always better).
• File formats accepted: JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or PDF.
• Clear, well-lit images. Avoid blurry, heavily filtered, or heavily edited photos as reference.
• For portraits or people: close-up, front-facing photos with clear features are ideal.
  
  

Copyright & Usage Rights

• You must own the photo or have explicit, written permission from the copyright holder to use it for commercial or printed purposes.
• We cannot use images pulled from Google Images, Pinterest, or other websites unless you can document that you own the rights.
• Stock photos must include your license documentation showing they allow for custom/print use.
• By submitting a photo, you confirm that you hold the necessary rights and indemnify MaineBound Designs from any copyright claims.
